Scientist to Founder: Oxford
A researcher wondering whether now is the time to build something? Hear from academic founders who made the leap from scientist to founder.
What it is
How do you turn scientific research into a company? Where’s the right place to start? And once you’ve started, how do you get your idea funded at the earliest stage?
Conception X, Oxford Edge and OX1 Incubator are launching OX1 Incubator’s Deep Tech and Biotech tracks at Christ Church. Academic founders who have turned their research into companies will share how they made the move from scientist to founder, how they knew their research was ready to build on, and how they secured their first grant or investment.
For one night only, entrepreneurial scientists, researchers, academic founders and industry innovators from across Oxford come together. If you’re a researcher wondering whether now is the right time to build something, come and find out.
What you’ll get
- First-hand insights into how scientific research can evolve into a venture
- The chance to meet people building and supporting science companies across Europe and the UK
- Advice from founders who moved from research into entrepreneurship
- Networking with researchers, founders and industry leaders
