Who can join Conception X?
We’re looking for 115 talented researchers to join our 2026 programmes, including PhD students, postdocs and early-career researchers from across the UK and Europe.
Conception X supports researchers in STEM fields who are interested in turning academic research into real-world impact. Whether they’re starting to explore entrepreneurship or already building a company and looking to move quickly, Conception X is designed to meet them where you are.
How can you help your students to learn about this opportunity?
We would love to reach PhDs, postdocs and early-career researchers in your community through any available channels or individuals who can help spread the word – whether that’s internal bulletins, newsletters for postgraduate students, university groups on LinkedIn, WhatsApp, STEM faculty supervisors, innovation and entrepreneurship teams within your institution, and more.
What is Conception X?
Conception X is a UK-based not-for-profit that runs the largest cross-university deeptech venture programme for researchers across Europe. Its mission is to turn more scientists and engineers into founders, accelerating breakthroughs and building new career pathways for researchers. Since launching in 2018, Conception X has recruited eight cohorts from 80+ universities across 11 countries, built 191 deeptech companies and had three exits – quantum drug discovery company Rahko, energy optimisation startup Kapacity.io and LLM evaluation platform Humanloop. Its startups have developed anything from vaccines for cancer metastasis to living building materials that absorb carbon. The Conception X portfolio is valued at £500 million.
