Oxford-Harwell Energy Innovation Day 2025

We are pleased to invite you to the Oxford-Harwell Energy Innovation Day, an Oxford Energy Nexus Series event taking place on Thursday, 27th November 2025, 11 am – 4 pm, at Harwell Campus.
This visit aims to strengthen connections between the University of Oxford ECR community and leading innovators from the Harwell Energy Cluster.
The day will include presentations, discussion, and a guided tour of one of the UK’s premier scientific facilities.

Visit Agenda 

  • 11:00 – Coach departure to Harwell Campus
  • 11:30–12:15 – Welcome & Harwell Campus Presentation
  • 12:15–13:45 –  Lunch & Industry – Research Roundtable. Presentations from Harwell Energy Cluster companies and University of Oxford ECRs, followed by networking.
  • 14:00–15:00 – Guided Tour at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL)
  • 15:00 – Coach departure to Oxford

Participating Harwell Energy Cluster Companies

  • Space Solar: Developing scalable, continuous space-based solar power systems to support Net Zero and global energy security.
  • Tomato Sustainables: Conducting R&D into biomass-derived sustainable aviation fuels.
  • OXROC: Creating an integrated wind–solar–thermal heating system for zero-carbon indoor and outdoor heat.
  • OptimalSlope: Designing intelligent optimisation software for mine pitwalls to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and cut carbon emissions.

Important Note on Registration

We have a maximum capacity of 20 participants for this visit.
To ensure meaningful engagement, priority may be given to attendees who:

  • Express interest in presenting their work (3-5 minute presentation), and/or
  • Demonstrate strong alignment with the motivation and theme of the roundtable session.

We warmly encourage early registration due to the limited number of places.
