ROBIN Networking event March 2025

We are delighted to be bringing the ROBIN Networking meeting to Abingdon, South Oxfordshire!

And this time we have a venue we havent been before and thank our generous hosts, Loose Canon Brewery, which is a fantastic location in the south of this historic market town.

Soon to be 15 years old, The Loose Cannon Brewery is a very different business to the one that was set up by Will Laithwaite in 2010.

Situated in the historic brewing town of Abingdon, the brewery had some big boots to fill after the demise of Moorlands Brewery. Will recognised that audience is key to any success, so during the initial stages of the brewery opening asked the people of Abingdon to vote on some trial brews to determine local tastes. This led to the production of Loose Cannon's first beer, Abingdon Bridge, which is still the best selling beer today.

A Brewery shop has always been a feature of the business, but in 2019, witj the adjacent business unti becoming free, the business took on this additional space giving Will the opportunity to reconfigure the brewery layout, creating a larger retail space and adding a Taproom.

The Taproom added a new dimension to the business, allowing for greater engagement with consumers and providing a welcome space for the local community. Loose Cannon regularly works with a wide variety of local charities and organisations to host fundraising and awareness events.

If you are not already aware of ROBIN, it unlike most business networks. The aim of our ROBIN meetings is to facilitate networking between businesses, charities, voluntary groups, social enterprises and educational institutions keen to explore ways of collaborating for mutual benefit.
