Marketing Camp: Getting started with PPC ads

This month’s speaker is Michael Kenny, Creative Director at Digital Gearbox. Michael lives in Bicester and in his spare time is a keen (but pretty slow) runner, a keen (but pretty rubbish) home cook, and a keen (and actually half-decent) amateur film critic, who began his marketing career selling sex toys online as a teenager in the late 90s!

He'll be walking us through everything we need to think about if we want to start running PPC campaigns, focusing on Google Ads.

For most of us, Google feels like an unknowably huge machine and Pay Per Click ads seem like a bit of a dark art. In this jargon-free (and no-BS) session Michael will be demystifying PPC, helping us understand how Google Ads campaigns work and why they can be a solid investment and a great way to grow your business.

He'll be giving us practical ideas and advice on everything from how to set a realistic budget and make sure the ads themselves are engaging to how to make the most of Google's AI and set proper goals and expectations before you push that (soon to be not so) scary GO LIVE button.

How our gatherings usually go

🍻 6pm: Doors open for (free) drinks, marketing chit-chat, and - let's face it - probably at least some small talk about the weather

🧑‍🏫 6.30-7.30pm: A brilliant marketing talk from a knowledgeable and interesting human, plus some Q&A and informal group discussion

🤓 7.30-7.45pm: It’s GUS time (that’s Genuinely Useful Shit)

🍻 7.45-8pm: More (still free) drinks and fun chat, hopefully about more interesting stuff than the weather by this point

Hosted by brand voice strategist Bethany Joy, in partnership with the fantastic Oxford College of Marketing.

*Tickets are free (the best flavour) but it's still super helpful if you book one, so we've got a rough idea of who's coming on the night. Hope to see you there 😁
