OE - Sustainable Venture Capital - Utopia or soon a Reality?

Sustainable finance in all its variety - from impact investing and ESG to nature-based solutions and green bonds - has become mainstream. Not so, however, in venture capital. Only over the last years did the tech-investors start to think about their responsibility and the opportunity that comes with investing more sustainably.

In this talk, Dr Johannes Lenhard will expand on his academic insights and empirical observations as the co-director of the nonprofit VentureESG, focused on pushing the VC ecosystem forward on a meaningful ESG integration. Dr Johannes Lenhard is in addition an affiliated lecturer at the University of Cambridge. His focus is to equip venture capital investors and asset owners with the right tools for ESG integration.

Johannes wrote his PhD in anthropology at Cambridge and published his first monograph on the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Paris. His subsequent book was focused on diversity, equity and inclusion in tech and he is is finishing a second monograph on what he calls the ‘ethics of venture capital’. He also writes regularly for journalistic outlets such as the FT’s Sifted, ImpactAlpha, SSIR and Prospect.
